Sean P. Rice, Chief Executive Officer
Sean is responsible for the strategic vision and day-to-day operations for Medical Research South. Before assuming the role of CEO, Sean served as the Vice President of Finance and Operations from 2010 through 2012. Before Medical Research South, Sean was Vice President of Finance at Genscape, Inc. Sean holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Alma College and an MBA with a focus in entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville. Donald P. Hurley, D.O., CPI
Dr. Hurley has been conducting research trials with Medical Research South since 2002. During that time Dr. Hurley has been the PI on over 100 trials and served as a Sub Investigator on 50 more. Dr. Hurley’s diverse trial experience and commitment to advancing medicine through research has allowed him to become one of only a handful of CPI’s in the state of South Carolina. Dr. Hurley proudly served in the US Navy from 1986 until 2002 at which time he decided to open his own family practice, Family First Medical Care, in Charleston, SC.
Kim Waters, Office Manager
Kim Waters is responsible for non-clinical aspects of day to day operations and office procedures of Medical Research South. Prior to joining Medical Research South, Kim was Practice Administrator of a Specialty Medical Practice in the Upstate of South Carolina for 16 years. Kim has over 28 years experience in Medical Office Management, and holds a BS in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC.
Dani Johnson, Director of Clinical Site Operations
Dani Johnson is responsible for overseeing all clinical trial operations performed by the clinical staff. Dani is a certified clinical research coordinator and has over 10 years of experience in clinical research. Originally from San Diego, California she moved to the great state of South Carolina after serving in the US Coast Guard from 1998 until 2003.
Medical Research Staff
The Medical Research South team of Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), Assistant CRCs, Patient Recruiters, Lab Techs, and Administrative Staff have years of clinical research experience across a variety of indications. In addition to standard safety training, all staff complete Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training on an annual basis. CRCs are encouraged to become Certified CRCs while Assistant CRCs follow a structured development plan to prepare them to become CRCs. This staff experience and training supports Medical Research South’s objective of providing safe and exceptional care to every patient that comes through our door.
